The board of directors of Harborline Mutual Insurance Company today declared a member dividend of 5 percent of 2025 premium on personal auto policies, returning about $16.2 million to members in California and Arizona.

The dividend applies to every Harborline auto policy that was in force on December 31, 2025, about 181,000 policies. It will be paid in April as a credit on each member's next bill, or by check for members who ask for one. The average dividend is about $90 per policy.

Auto claims in 2025 came in below the company's plan, reflecting fewer severe accidents than forecast and slower growth in repair costs. The board kept part of the result as policyholder surplus and voted to return the remainder to auto members.

We don't have shareholders, so when a year goes better than we priced for, the people who paid the premium are the only people the money can go back to.

Elena Marchetti, President and Chief Executive Officer

No dividend was declared on homeowners, renters or umbrella policies for 2025. After the wildfire losses of late 2024 and early 2025, the board directed that results from those lines be held in reserves.

"The board looks at each line separately, and at the reserves the company needs before anything else," said Judith Castellanos, chair of the board. "This year that meant a dividend for auto members and none for home. We will look again next year."

Harborline has declared a member dividend in 38 of the last 50 years. Dividends are not guaranteed and are set by the board each year.

Members do not need to do anything to receive the dividend. Each will receive a letter in April with the amount and how it was calculated.
