Members of Harborline Mutual today elected three directors to three-year terms on the company's board at the 73rd annual meeting of members, held at the company's head office on Point Loma.
The newly elected directors are:
- Ray Fuentes of Yuma, Arizona, owner of a family farm equipment dealership and a Harborline member since 1994. He fills one of the two board seats held for Arizona residents.
- Dr. Helen Sorensen of Pasadena, California, an emergency physician and former hospital medical director, a member since 2008.
- Thomas Ng of Sacramento, California, a retired state budget analyst, re-elected to a second term. He chairs the board's audit committee.
About 61,000 member households voted, by mail, online or in person, the highest turnout in more than a decade. Each member household has one vote, regardless of how many policies it holds.
Sixty-one thousand households took the time to vote for the people who oversee their insurance company. That is the mutual working the way it was meant to.
Judith Castellanos, Chair of the BoardAt the meeting, chief executive Elena Marchetti reported on 2025: 317,000 policies in force at year end, the dividend returned to auto members in April, and the continuing cost of the 2024 and 2025 wildfire seasons in the home book. Chief claims officer Adaeze Morrow described the new drive-in claims center in Ontario.
Members asked questions for just over an hour. The most common topics were wildfire availability in rural California, the price of home insurance, and whether Harborline would expand to a third state. Ms. Marchetti said it would not: "We are a California and Arizona company and intend to stay one."
Directors retiring from the board this year are Margaret Oduya, who served nine years, and Paul Henning, who served six. The board thanked both.
The minutes of the meeting will be mailed to any member who asks for them.
