Proof of insurance

An ID card for the glovebox or your phone, a declarations page for a lender, or proof for your landlord. Most of it is in your account and takes a minute.

Auto ID cards

Your auto ID card shows the policy number, the dates it covers, the cars and the named insured. California and Arizona both require you to carry proof of insurance when you drive and to show it if a police officer asks, after an accident, and when you register a car.

Both states accept proof on your phone. Download the card from your account and save it to your phone's wallet or photos, so you can show it without a signal. We also mail a printed card with every new policy and every renewal.

When you add a car, the new card is in your account as soon as the change is made. You do not need to wait for the mail.

Other kinds of proof

Declarations page
The summary at the front of your policy: every coverage, limit, deductible and discount, and the premium. This is what most people mean when they ask for proof of coverage. It is in your account.
Mortgage lender
When you buy a home, your lender needs to be named on the policy. Give us or your agent the lender's name, address and loan number, and we send the lender proof directly, usually the same day.
Car lender or lease company
We add them as loss payee and send them proof. They will hear from us if the policy lapses.
Landlord
We can add your landlord or property manager as an interested party on a renters policy, and send them proof. They are told if the policy ends, but they cannot change it.
SR-22
If a court or the state has told you to file an SR-22, call us. We file it electronically with the state, usually within a day, and keep it on file for as long as it is required.
